Michael Case was born and raised in the City of Reading. He attended Glenside Elementary School and both Northwest and Northeast Junior High schools. Michael spent one year at Reading High and two years of his high school tenure in Hershey, Pa. at the Milton Hershey School. Michael has taken part in numerous social and scholastic activities throughout his years in the city, including work on co-designing a mural for the Reading School District. The mural, which hangs inside the school administration building, depicts each of the district's respective mascots, and earned him several community awards. While employed with the city's newspaper, the Reading Eagle, Michael began turning his experiences and thoughts on his hometown, both good and bad, into productive chatter…in the form of an online blog. He has since continued that column as a part of this Web site bearing the same name, Reading Firsthand. Along with Michael's interests in writing and art, he enjoys basketball, the NFL and most importantly, his family. He is currently employed in several fields in and around the city. Michael believes, despite his hard up-bringing and poverty-laden roots, there is no excuse for being a follower, maintaining a drug-free lifestyle, never allowing his past to become a crutch for his future.
He welcomes any and all commentary to his work.
